Peter Smedley made his name as a high-flying businessman with an appetite for acquisitions, but he wanted his family to stay grounded.

Smedley took his grandchildren to some of the world’s most impoverished places during his time as a director and chairman of CARE Australia, and as a treasurer and board member of an international confederation of aid organisations.
