Credit checks could soon hit Afterpay users

Afterpay could be subjected to a new regulatory regime that requires credit checking of customers, under proposals being considered by Treasury.
Treasury is preparing to release an options paper that will consult on models for regulation of the controversial buy now, pay later sector, as flagged by the Minister for Financial Services Stephen Jones in July.
