Australia’s crypto chances require the right rules
Blockchains and crypto technology could make finance and banking more competitive. But that depends on Australia’s regulatory system adopting more workable rules.
Strip out all the new age, techno-utopian language that comes with it, and crypto has a role to play in a more competitive financial system.
It was clear at The Australian Financial Review Cryptocurrency Summit on Wednesday that secure blockchains and crypto technology could make finance and banking faster, cheaper and more transparent, remove ticket clippers from the system, and still make big banks a natural conduit between the old world and the new without systemically destabilising the financial system.
