Peter Ziegler, the brilliant financier of Village Roadshow who acrimoniously fell out with the entertainment business, is trying to fend off multimillion-dollar claims from the tax office by alleging it reneged on a settlement.

Federal Court documents revealed by The Australian Financial Review show Mr Ziegler, 61, has been duelling with the Australian Taxation Office for decades.
