ASIC steps up attack on ‘complacent’ superannuation boards

The corporate regulator has upped its attack on the boards of superannuation funds, which it criticised for being too reliant on outsourcing, and complacent following the failings in death benefit payments.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has already sued two of the largest super funds – AustralianSuper and Cbus – alleging the pair failed to process thousands of death benefit claims efficiently or fairly.
