ANZ readying for change at the top in 2022
When Shayne Elliott came in as ANZ’s chief executive at the start of 2016 he had one mission: simplification. With that mission nearly accomplished, focus at ANZ is turning back to growth – and who will be the one to lead it.
With bank-watchers figuring Elliott could step down as CEO in the later part of this year – when he would be approaching seven years in the role – it’s timely to assess his legacy, and consider who chairman Paul O’Sullivan and the ANZ board will pass the leadership baton on to.
