Anti-hawking rules set to end cross-selling

An upcoming ban on the hawking of insurance and superannuation products will severely limit the ability of large financial services companies to cross-sell their products, an insurance lawyer says.

Josh Mennen, a principal lawer with law firm Maurice Blackburn, said the federal government's plan to ban on all unsolicited sales – or hawking – of super and insurance would effectively outlaw cross-selling in the retail market.
