Yallourn flooding hits EnergyAustralia profits

Flooding at the Yallourn coal power plant in Victoria helped drive a 30 per cent slump in first-half operating profit at EnergyAustralia, which also warned of the impact from low wholesale power prices and intense competition in retailing.

Operating earnings at the Australian electricity and gas supply business for the six months to June 30 dropped to $HK837 million ($146.7 million), from $HK1.19 billion in the same half in 2020, Hong Kong-listed parent company CLP Group said.
