Woodside to take $295m hit as it exits Myanmar

Woodside has followed TotalEnergies and Chevron in deciding to formally withdraw from Myanmar following last year’s military coup and the deteriorating human rights situation there, closing the door on any possibility of reviving its gas production ambitions in that country.

After putting its operations in Myanmar on hold in late February 2021, Woodside said it would start to formally exit its remaining petroleum exploration permits and contracts held with the Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE).
