Vic govt selling power to business is ‘good for competition’

The Victorian government-owned State Electricity Commission will start retailing power to businesses later this year, expanding beyond its current government customer base and taking on rivals such as AGL Energy and Shell Energy.

Chief executive Chris Miller says the aim is to stimulate rather than stifle competition, something that will become more evident once the commission’s own battery projects come online.
