Qld backs 50pc renewables target to drive investment

As the Labor government announced on Thursday it was fast-tracking the approval process for a $2 billion wind farm in the Wide Bay region, state Energy Minister Anthony Lynham said Queensland would reach 20 per cent renewable energy by next year.

The Palaszczuk government said its commitment to reaching its 50 per cent renewable energy target by 2030 would drive renewable investment jobs in Queensland, despite a 60 per cent fall in investment in clean energy nationally in the past year and a slump in wholesale prices for solar.
