Origin, Fortescue in rival hydrogen projects in Tasmania

Origin Energy and Fortescue Metals Group are going head-to-head with rival ambitions to export "green" hydrogen and ammonia from plants to be built in Tasmania's Bell Bay as resources players jostle for position in the emerging opportunity for the clean fuel.

The plants, if they go ahead, are each expected to involve several hundred million dollars of investment and highlight the natural advantages offered in green energy by hydropower-dominated Tasmania.
