Backstreet fight over EV chargers could cost all energy users more

Electricity contractors have warned that allowing networks to directly own pole-mounted electric vehicle chargers will add to an estimated $10 billion in profits they already earn per year across the country.

The National Electricity Communications Association has weighed in on the side of charger companies warning regulators not to relax rules that prevent counting chargers as part of the electricity network, a move which could result in users slugged for chargers even if they do not drive an EV.
