Australia under pressure to boost climate targets on path to 2050
Energy Minister Angus Taylor says Australia is on track to ‘meet and beat’ its 2030 targets, but it may not be enough to satisfy the global community.
The Morrison government is under pressure to boost its emission reduction targets at international climate talks in Glasgow in November, as Australia charts its path to net zero emissions by 2050.
While other advanced economies have more ambitious targets heading into the COP26 talks, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Australia was on track to “meet and beat” its 26 to 28 per cent reductions on 2005 levels by 2030.
