ASX writes 30pc gender target into governance guidelines

It will take just 114 directorships to meet a proposed new requirement for the nation's top 300 listed companies to have boards where at least 30 per cent of members are women.

The ASX Corporate Governance Council is updating its guidelines and proposed the gender target on Wednesday, two days after one of the country's highest profile women directors, Catherine Brenner, resigned AMP amid revelations in the banking royal commission.
