Competition watchdog dissects Namoi takeover

The ACCC has put the two agribusiness giants vying for control of Namoi Cotton on notice, warning it will not stand for any co-operation, given the potential for overlap in the tightly held growing and ginning sector.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said on Friday that undertakings for asset sales provided by Singapore-based Olam may not be enough to gain its approval for a takeover of ASX-listed Namoi.
