Australian grape growers fear export hit from port dispute
Major disruptions at Australian ports caused by the continuing industrial action are stoking concerns among fresh fruit exporters, who fear thousands of tonnes of produce bound for Asia may soon get caught up in the long-running dispute.
Up to 150,000 tonnes of table grapes, mostly sourced from Victoria’s Sunraysia region, are expected to be shipped out of Australia over the coming months in what is tipped to be a bumper year for the sector.
