Women make a difference, but don’t get paid for it

Companies that promote women into senior executive ranks perform better than those that don’t. But the gender pay gap persists in Asia.

A study showing the positive financial impact from lifting the number of women in management also includes worrying data showing that many of these higher-performing companies pay their female executives a lot less than the males.

The Alpha Female report, published this week by Bank of America, found that companies in Asia-Pacific with a higher proportion of women in management outperformed those with a lower proportion by 26 per cent, on average, over a five-year period.
