The curious case of the company with half its market cap to give back

Nine Entertainment looks certain to pocket $1.4 billion from the sale of Domain to US group CoStar. What it does with the cash will be the subject of fierce debate.

It’s pretty much “deal done” at Domain, the real estate classifieds group 60 per cent owned by Nine Entertainment Co.

Domain announced on Thursday morning that it had received an improved offer of $4.43 a share from US-listed giant CoStar, which originally lobbed a $4.20 a share bid in late February.
