Macquarie eyes monster pay day from AirTrunk deal
Australia’s millionaire’s factory is on the cusp of a big home run. To get there, it needs another heavyweight to make a big bet on the future of AI.
Macquarie is staring at one of its biggest ever home runs in Australia.
Its asset management arm backed AirTrunk, a data centre developer and owner, at a $3 billion valuation less than four years ago. Since then, it has grown rapidly, opening new data centres, extending existing ones and buying land to build more.
