Olivia Wirth parachutes into Myer with a mission
The former Qantas loyalty boss faces a steep learning curve as Myer’s new executive chairwoman. But she has three things on her side – including the backing of Solomon Lew.
It was in year 11 that Olivia Wirth got a job as a Christmas casual in a women’s fashion store in her home town on the NSW Central Coast.
Wirth would eventually go to university in Bathurst, but she would go home on weekends and holidays for shifts. The early lessons in customer service would stick with her throughout a long career at Qantas, which culminated in her role in turning the airline’s loyalty division into an earnings powerhouse.
