Top Barrenjoey banker’s two fixes to restart IPOs
Barrenjoey co-executive chairman Guy Fowler says rethinking prospectus forecasts and some other reforms could help revive the quiet IPO market.
For all the fanfare around Guzman y Gomez’s $335 million initial public offering, Australia’s IPO market is dead quiet. There were just 13 IPOs in the first half of this year – including the burrito group and mostly exploration tiddlers – which was one worse than last year, and we were told that was rock-bottom.
The second half isn’t looking that much better.
