Forget JobKeeper. Just weeks out from the federal election, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has unveiled a pitch to save collapsed airline Regional Express – and ideally, a truckload of votes in regional seats – that we are morally obligated to call JetKeeper.

If JobKeeper came with more than a dollop of moral hazard, JetKeeper is dripping with it. The government is promising to rescue – even potentially acquire outright – a company that was indisputably the author of its own demise.
