Westpac has rejected claims that 40,000 life insurance customers are somehow worse off by offering tiered premiums after Shine Lawyers launched a class action against the bank this morning for gouging customers.

Shine Lawyers launched a class action against Westpac in the Federal Court on Thursday for allegedly selling customers life insurance policies at steep mark ups in a case they speculate could be worth $100 million.
