Ziggy Bayer has finally woken from his coma, after a senseless attack where he was allegedly run down by a car twice on his own property at O’Sullivan Beach.
Last Friday, Ziggy Bayer, of Lonsdale, was having dinner with his wife Tracey when they became aware of a black Honda sedan driving laps around their secluded, industrial unit at Morrow Rd.

When they went to the front door to investigate, they say they saw the driver was pouring petrol around the perimeter of their home, which spurred Mr Bayer into action.
Mr Bayer, 61, tried to defend his home but instead was mowed down by the Honda – before being run down again and becoming trapped between a trailer and the sedan.
The driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.
A friend of the couple, Darren Prosser, has told The Advertiser he received a call from Ms Bayer soon after she made the 000 call.
Mr Prosser said hearing what happened to Ms Bayer made his “heart drop”.
“All I felt was just pure shock,” he said. “I started ringing people and asking them to pray for them as they embarked on their journey to recovery.”
Mr Prosser said they didn’t know if Mr Ziggy “would pull through” due to the “severity” and the “number of injuries” he sustained after taking the force of the car twice.
“He had fractures to his pelvis, crushed femur, lower leg muscle injuries and four broken ribs. He also had a dislocated jaw, facial injuries that would require stitches, and other internal injuries … he was put into an induced coma.
Mr Bayer was woken from his coma on Friday, almost one week after the incident, but was still “out of it” and unable to move or sit properly.
Mr Prosser said the couple had “undoubtedly been traumatised” by the incident.
“For Tracey, watching her husband broken and in pain, it takes an emotional toll,” Mr Prosser said. “And the future for Ziggy is still very uncertain.
“It’s unclear if he’ll be able to work again.”
Mr Prosser said the Bayers did not deserve the attack.
“They said they don’t know who the driver was – it was random,” he said.
Police arrested a 31-year-old man from Christie Downs on Saturday and charged him with attempted murder, endangering life and arson.
He was refused police bail.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help pay for medical bills and other daily costs raising nearly $15,000 by Friday evening.
