A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly ran down a resident and trapped him between a vehicle and trailer.
Police and emergency services were called to a property at Morrow Rd, O’Sullivan Beach, just before 5.30pm on Friday, after reports of a man driving a black Honda sedan around the outside of a shed and pouring accelerant on the ground.
The incident escalated when the man was disturbed by the man who lived there, leading to the suspect allegedly driving his car at him, trapping the homeowner between the sedan and a trailer.
The suspect exited his vehicle and ran away and was last seen running south on Morrow Rd.
The Advertiser understands the victim’s trailers have been taken away by police.
There was also damage to the shed.
Residents told The Advertiser that the industrial area is usually peaceful during the day, but the conditions are very different at night. They said that after dark “sometimes it’s unsafe”.
The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene, before being transferred to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Following an investigation, Southern District Detectives arrested a 31-year-old man from Christie Downs on Saturday and charged him with attempted murder, endangering life and arson.
He was refused police bail and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
