TikTok star Rachel Queen Burton denies child-sex charge, will stand trial

A TikTok star and self-described “proud trans woman” has denied child-sex charges and will stand trial.

Social media star and self-described “proud trans woman” Rachel Queen Burton has been ordered to stand trial on child sex charges.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Ms Burton pleaded not guilty to a number of charges allegedly committed in regional South Australia.

Prosecutors had asked the court to postpone the matter, saying they required further time to interview the alleged victim and finalise their case.

Defence counsel, however, said additional evidence would not change his client’s response to the case.

“The matter is contested and it’s going to be a priority trial,” he said.

“I have sought, from the prosecution, some interviews that were conducted in the NT.

“The charges in SA occurred after that (interview) so it’s relevant (to the case).

Ms Burton, 44, of Coolalinga in the Northern Territory, is charged with eight offences including directing a person to sexually manipulate her and producing child exploitation material.

The offences allegedly occurred at various locations in rural and regional South Australia over the course of 2019.

On the TikTok app, she is known as rachel.queen8008 and boasts 36,100 followers.

On Thursday, counsel for Ms Burton said they did not object to delaying the case but felt it “would be prudent” for the outstanding evidence to be provided before the matter reached the District Court.

Magistrate Michelle Sutcliffe disagreed, recorded Ms Burton’s not guilty pleas and remanded her in custody to face that court in February, when a trial date will be set.
