A Domino’s supervisor is behind bars after he sexually abused a child before transferring her $200 in exchange.
Lachlan Craig Beelitz, 23, was jailed for five years after he preyed on the victim for his own sexual gratification.
During sentencing on Monday, the District Court heard Beelitz began Snapchatting the 16-year-old victim and asked her to send him explicit photos in 2022.
The court heard Beelitz then drove the victim to a carpark and got her to perform a sex act on him.
On at least two more occasions Beelitz had the victim perform sex acts on him, giving her cash and cigarettes in exchange one time.
The court heard Beelitz picked up the victim on another occasion and they had sexual intercourse.
“During that intercourse you gave your victim your phone for her to take photos of herself partially nude,” Judge Michael Durrant said.
“Later that morning you drove her home and transferred her $200 as an exchange for the sex and photos.”
Beelitz, of Mount Gambier, pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse and procuring a child for sexual activity.
The court heard Beelitz previously worked at Domino’s for three years, before working as a tree logger.
Domino’s Australia commented on the Facebook post of the court case that they take safety and well being extremely seriously and have a zero-tolerance approach to harassment, abuse, or discrimination of any kind.
“As soon as we were made aware of these allegations the individual was dismissed,” they said.
“This store is now under new ownership.
“We pride ourselves on being a supportive and safe place to work for thousands of team members across Australia, and will continue to make it abundantly clear that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
The court heard Beelitz did not meet the diagnostic criteria for pedophilia but rather his offending was caused by poor insight and poor impulse control in being able to control his sexual urges.
Judge Durrant said Beelitz took advantage of the victim purely to satisfy his own sexual urges.
“Children are among the most vulnerable members of our society, the courts must protect children, particularly young girls from their own immaturity and naivety,” he said.
“I must deter you and others from preying on children for sexual gratification and from causing them lifelong harm.”
Judge Durrant sentenced Beelitz to five years and four months jail, with a non-parole period of two years and eight months.
The sentence was backdated to February 12.
