Domino’s have responded about the court case of a predator employee, saying the man was dismissed immediately after they were made aware of the allegations.

Former Domino’s pizza manager Lachlan Craig Beelitz, 23, exploited his position of power to groom the child victim, a court heard.

Domino’s Australia commented on the Facebook post of the court case that they take safety and well being extremely seriously and have a zero-tolerance approach to harassment, abuse, or discrimination of any kind.

“As soon as we were made aware of these allegations the individual was dismissed,” they said.

“This store is now under new ownership.

“We pride ourselves on being a supportive and safe place to work for thousands of team members across Australia, and will continue to make it abundantly clear that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.”

Georgina Nicholson, for the prosecution, told the court during Beelitz’s sentencing submissions that he exploited the power imbalance between himself and the victim.

The court heard the victim has suffered from emotional and psychological impacts from Beelitz’s offending, as well as losing her job and sense of security.

“The complainant was not a willing participant,” Ms Nicholson said.

“She felt under duress at all times by virtue of the accused’s position, his offers to give money in exchange for nudes and the way he generally behaved in a forceful manner towards her when asking for sexual intercourse.”

Ms Nicholson asked the court to revoke Beelitz’s bail, noting jail term was inevitable and his risk of reoffending as assessed by a psychologist was moderate to high.

Beelitz, of Mount Gambier, pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse and procuring a child for sexual activity.

Jarrad Sim, for Beelitz, said his client was incredibly remorseful for the offending and had a desire to engage in sex offending rehabilitation programs.

“He has taken full responsibility for all of the inappropriate behaviours of the offending,” he said.

Mr Sim said Beelitz didn’t meet the diagnostic criteria for pedophilia but rather his offending was caused by poor insight and poor impulse control in being able to control his sexual urges.

Judge Durrant revoked Beelitz’s bail and will sentence him later this month.
