What happens after a sexual assault?

An award-winning artist known as Loverboy released a single called “Horny” the same year he was convicted for raping a 15-year-old girl.

Patrick Morie Bannah, who also goes by the stage name ConCcoins, was jailed for six years earlier this week after preying upon the intoxicated girl at an 18th birthday party.

The song starts with the lyrics “I want to spread your legs apart” before Bannah sings “We love your area, you looking tight.”

Bannah then goes on to sing: “Give me sweet love and I’ll go give it right back. Big booty girl I just know what you like.”

Some of Bannah’s other hits include “We Outside”, “VIP”, “Overdose”, “High Me”, “Judge”, and “Legitimate Man”.

The lyrics in VIP say “A lot of girls in my yard/Dey kind girls wey dem bum bum large.”

On its website, Spotify’s hateful conduct policy reads: “While we don’t believe in censoring content because of an artist’s or creator’s behaviour, we want our editorial decisions – what we choose to program – to reflect our values.

“So, in some circumstances, when an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful (for example, violence against children and sexual violence), it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator.”

The Advertiser contacted Spotify on two occasions asking if Bannah’s music will be removed on their platform now he’s been convicted of rape.

However, they did not respond in time for publication.

Bannah boasts in his Spotify biography to have headlined international shows in Cambodia and Malaysia in 2013, receiving awards for Best Afrobeats in Australia in 2015, and being invited by the Liberian Entertainment Awards to perform in the USA.

However, he has an underwhelming number of listens per month with both profiles gaining only 200 listens.
