A Domino’s manager who sexually abused a child offered her money in exchange for explicit photos, a court heard.
Lachlan Craig Beelitz, 23, awaits his fate behind bars after he exploited his position of power to groom the victim.
Georgina Nicholson, for the prosecution, told the court Beelitz exploited the power imbalance between himself and the victim by his position as a supervisor or manager at Domino’s Pizza.
The court heard the victim has suffered from emotional and psychological impacts from Beelitz’s offending, as well as losing her job and sense of security.
“The complainant was not a willing participant,” she said.
“She felt under duress at all times by virtue of the accused’s position, his offers to give money in exchange for nudes and the way he generally behaved in a forceful manner towards her when asking for sexual intercourse.”
Ms Nicholson asked the court to revoke Beelitz’s bail, noting jail term was inevitable and his risk of reoffending as assessed by a psychologist was moderate to high.
Beelitz, of Mount Gambier, pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse and procuring a child for sexual activity.
Jarrad Sim, for Beelitz, said his client was incredibly remorseful for the offending and had a desire to engage in sex offending rehabilitation programs.
“He has taken full responsibility for all of the inappropriate behaviours of the offending,” he said.
Mr Sim said Beelitz was determined to not meet the diagnostic criteria for pedophilia but rather his offending was caused by poor insight and poor impulse control in being able to control his sexual urges.
Judge Durrant revoked Beelitz’s bail and will sentence him later this month.
