Fire crews battle suspicious fires in Plympton and Hope Valley

A Mercedes has been stolen and torched overnight in Adelaide – the latest in a worrying spate.

Suspects remain at large after another luxury vehicle was stolen and torched overnight.

A red Mercedes Benz sedan was reported ablaze on Elizabeth Ave, Plympton, about 11.30pm on Saturday, June 11.

On arrival fire crews quickly extinguished the well alight vehicle but the car was completely destroyed.

Crime scene investigators will examine the vehicle this morning.

Police are still searching for the possible suspects following a similar incident at the end of last month when a BMW station wagon was reported on fire on May St, Woodville West, at about 5.10am Wednesday 25.

Two people were seen running from the car, and were last spotted running east on Claire St.

The car had been stolen from a house in Fairford Street at Unley in the early hours of Wednesday morning and was used in a break-in at a clothing store at Burnside Village Shopping Centre in Glenside.

And earlier that month, a Mercedes was torched in Bridgewater – shortly after a Bridgewater supermarket was ram-raided.

A suspicious house fire at Hope Valley was also reported to emergency services early Sunday morning.

At about 4:45am reports emerged of a house engulfed in flames on Boronia Drive, Hope Valley.

The fire was quickly extinguished by fire crews however substantial damage was caused to the vacant property.

Police believe the fire was deliberately lit.
