In another incident, a gang of teenage girls were arrested after allegedly nabbing a car from a northeastern suburbs shopping centre before taking it for a joy ride 150 km away on the Yorke Peninsula.

Police were initially alerted to a stolen car being driven around Wallaroo and Kadina about 7.30pm Tuesday.

It was revealed the Mazda 6 sedan was earlier stolen by suspects who allegedly stole a victim’s car keys from a store in Westfield Tea Tree Plaza at Modbury.

The offenders found the car before driving off.

The vehicle was spotted in the evening at Port Wakefield by the police helicopter, and was tracked until it turned onto Old Port Wakefield Rd at Dublin where occupants fled at a service station.

Patrols swarmed the scene and arrested four teenage girls from Newton, 15, Campbelltown, 16, Oakden, 17 and Parafield Gardens, 17.

All were charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, and were granted bail to appear in youth court in July.
