A woman has been ordered to stand trial over allegations she assisted in the murder of her ex-wife, and then defiled her remains.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Anastasia Narelle Marshall pleaded not guilty to assisting Jonathan Paul Parker in the alleged murder of her ex-wife, Krystal.

She also pleaded not guilty to assisting him in the destruction of Krystal’s remains, and to having herself defiled those remains.

Ms Marshall also pleaded not guilty to arson, and to assisting Mr Parker to commit the same offence.

Ms Marshall, 29, was originally charged with one count each of murder, arson and defiling human remains to pervert the course of justice.

Mr Parker, 48, was charged with murder, destroying human remains to pervert the course of justice and arson of a building.

The charges arise from the discovery of the body of Ms Marshall’s former wife Krystal, 38, at their Aldinga Beach home last year.

Previously, prosecutors alleged Mr Parker had been in a relationship with Anastasia Marshall when Krystal was allegedly murdered.

Mr Parker had allegedly been asked to move out of the Aldinga Beach address where he and the two women were living.

In July, prosecutors withdrew the murder charge against Ms Marshall, replacing it with three counts of assisting an offender.

On Thursday, the state’s chief magistrate, Judge Mary-Louise Hribal, remanded Ms Marshall on continuing bail to face the Supreme Court in March.

At that hearing, a timetable for her trial will be set.

Counsel for Mr Parker asked their client’s charges be adjourned, pending consideration of more evidentiary material disclosed by prosecutors.

Judge Hribal remanded Mr Parker in custody until February.
