Car yards raided, 34 vehicles defected as police investigate Adelaide bikie feud

Police have raided two car sales yards and defected 34 vehicles as they step up the fight against an escalating bikie war.

Adelaide bikie crackdown

Two car yards have been raided and more than 30 vehicles defected as part of an SA Police offensive against an ongoing outlaw bikie feud gripping Adelaide.

Police, along with Transport Department and Consumer and Business Affairs inspectors, converged on car yards at Somerton Park and Mile End on Wednesday to audit the businesses.

A total of 34 vehicles were defected and further compliance issues will be followed up by CBS.

Police also searched a home in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.

It comes as investigations continue into five fires and two shootings believed to be linked to a bikie war over an unpaid drug debt.

The tit-for-tat feud erupted after five current and former Hells Angels members were arrested earlier this month over the 2012 murder of Jason De Ieso at his Pooraka business.

Police say the arrests changed the power balance within the outlaw motorcycle gang fraternity, sparking a series of incidents across Adelaide.

The most recent incident occurred on Tuesday when a car was set alight in a driveway at Lockleys.

On Friday, a gun shot was fired into a West Lakes home.

On Wednesday, August 14, police and fire crews were sent to a block of businesses at Seaton after an early-morning arson attack caused about $20,000 worth of damage to a hairdressing salon.

Two days earlier, five shots were fired at a house in Ascot Park.

On August 9, a boxing gym in Marker Ave at Marleston was set alight.

Less than 24 hours earlier, a food van at a Mile End house was destroyed by a deliberately-lit fire.

The first incident was on Monday, August 5, when a vehicle was torched in St Clair.

Police have searched more than 80 properties since the feud began while Correctional Services has searched numerous prison cells.

“Police will leave no stone unturned in our bid to bring an end to this unacceptable violent behaviour,” Detective Superintendent Mark Trenwith, officer in charge of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, said.

“This type of criminal offending poses an unacceptable risk to the wider community.”

Police ask anyone with information about any of the incidents to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it online at crimestopperssa.com.au.
