Thanks to a deal with News Corp, matches from the 16 and under and 18 and under Summer Slam competition this week will be livestreamed. The 20 and under men’s and women’s games a week later will also be shown.
In all, almost 60 matches will be livestreamed from the 16 and under and 18 and under tournaments which run from January 10-13 and then the 20 and under tournament from January 17-20.
Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley Pool and Musgrave Park Pool are hosting the event which will throw the spotlight on the best and brightest talent in the pool.
NSW teams - the Waratahs and Blues - came into the 18U event as pre-favourites and didn’t disappoint with some great wins from both the boy’s and girl’s teams on day one of the championships.
With Covid still affecting sports around the country, Western Australia will not field a team and Tasmania and South Australia will combine some teams due to an issue with numbers.
A new broadcast deal between Water Polo Australia and News Corp means fans of the sport are in for a bumper year of coverage and able to livestream more than 200 games in 2022.
The deal covers the Australian Water Polo League (AWL), Australian Youth Championships (under 14s to under 18s) and the Summer Slam.
Games will stream across The Daily Telegraph, The Courier-Mail, The Australian, Herald-Sun, The Advertiser, Hobart Mercury, plus many regional websites.
