South Australia has charged to a historic victory in the boys U12 Australian Football Championships, while the girls title was a close-run affair. See all the live stream replays.

A dominant South Australian side has claimed a long-awaited boys title at the School Sport Australia Under-12 Australian Football Championships in Adelaide on Friday.

The Croweaters ended rival state Victoria’s run of consecutive crowns since 2011 with victory at the tournament, which was exclusively live streamed by KommunityTV.

The Big V did triumph in the girls division however, beating SA by three-points on the final day to claim the inaugural gold medal.

SA’s boys came into the last day as the only undefeated side but still needed to take care of Victoria in the decisive final match at Norwood Oval.

And the Croweaters displayed their superiority, winning 6.1 (37) to 2.4 (16) in tough conditions.

Western Australia, which beat Victoria the day before, finished with a 4-1 win-loss record and the silver medal.

Victoria ended at 3-2 and it was the strong football state had lost the under-12 championships since 2011, when an SA team also defeated the Big V in the final game to end its domination.

In the girls draw, SA and Victoria both came into the sixth day having not lost a match all championships.

The Croweaters fought valiantly but were edged out 1.5 (11) to 1.2 (8).

SA girls coach Matt Bradley said he was proud of the way his side fought all week, winning close contests against NSW and WA.

“It was a real tough game (against Victoria),” Bradley said.

“For the girls to play as well as they did with a game day after day, slogging it out on the wet with relentless tackling and pressure is a testament to their character.

“Four wins out of five and a silver medal in the inaugural year of the girls competition is a pretty incredible achievement from them.

“I’m super proud.”

SA was also awarded the fair play awards, voted by the opposition states, for both the boys and girls.

Bradley said the camaraderie at the championships was excellent, with the SA girls singing the song with the boys after their win.
