Undefeated Adelaide City and in-form Adelaide Comets squared off in the Football SA under-18 Federation Cup final on Tuesday night.
The decider, which was live streamed by The Advertiser and The Messenger on Tuesday night, features the unbeaten Black and Whites taking on a Comets side in red-hot cup form.
Action from the Parks was broadcast live and exclusively on advertiser.com.au from 7.30pm and you can watch the replay above.
And the shot at a title has gained even more importance, given the Federation Cup was not played in 2020.
Speaking before the game, City attacker Matthew Maio said his side, which had won nine matches and drawn one in the league alongside its strong cup run, believed it could atone for previous final failures.
“We’ve reached many finals before, but haven’t clinched it at the end as much as we would have liked to,” Maio said.
“This one would be very good considering we weren’t able to have a cup competition last year.
“We’re in some good form as well, scoring lots of goals and feeling pretty confident coming into the final.”
Standing in the Black and Whites’ way is a more than capable Comets side also in fine touch.
They battered Football SA NTC 7-1 in an impressive semi-final display to book their ticket in the decider.
Comets defender Christian Kourlas said his side was ready for the challenge against City.
“They’re probably one of the teams I really wanted to come up against in the finals,” Kourlas said.
“We believe we’re better than them, even if they haven’t lost this year, but it should be a great game.”
Along with the under-18 decider, The Advertiser and The Messenger will also live stream the reserves Federation Cup final between Cumberland United and Adelaide Olympic on Wednesday night.
Coverage on advertiser.com.au will begin at 7.30pm on Wednesday night.
