The Cairns baseball community is mourning the death of former player, coach, umpire and administrator Steven Landsberg, who died this week at the age of 45.
Landsberg was a player and coach at Cairns Baseball League club Cubs for many years before becoming a founding member of the Cairns Baseball Umpires Association.
He was also heavily involved with youth baseball, coaching regional representative teams and representing the region as an umpire at state and national tournaments.
Former Cairns Baseball League development officer and current director on the board of Baseball Queensland Al Connors said the baseball community was “crippled” after hearing the sad news.
