The Lobethal Bakery owners, the Trinkle family, thank Hills community for ‘love, support and prayers’ after young boy struck by car at family home

The prominent Adelaide Hills family of a young boy hit by a car has spoken about the incident as the community takes to social media to voice their support.

The prominent Adelaide Hills family of a young boy hit by a car have spoken publicly about the incident.

The Trinkle family, which owns the Lobethal Bakery, took to social media thanking the community for its support.

“To all our wonderful bakery family,” a post on the bakery’s Facebook page read, “thank you for all the love, support and prayers we are getting from all of you”.

“It means a lot.

“As we navigate the critical stage of this tragedy we just ask for privacy especially for the immediate family.

Supporters left their well wishes in the post’s comments.

“Sending love,” one person wrote.

“Thinking of you all,” another commented.

The young boy, a grandson of the bakery’s founder Helmut Trinkle, was flown to hospital on Monday afternoon after being hit by a car understood to have been driven by a family member.

Emergency services were called to the family’s Valley View Ln property about 4.30pm after reports of the incident.

The boy was understood to be on life support on Wednesday afternoon.

SA Health could not provide an update on his condition.

Family at the Valley View Ln property declined to comment on Tuesday, as did bakery staff.

A neighbour told The Advertiser the street was a “close-knit neighbourhood”.

“They’re beautiful people,” he said.

“We’re all feeling for them and we hope he pulls through.”

The bakery, which opened its doors in 1975, has long been a local favourite.

It has shopfronts in Lobethal, Woodside, Stirling, Mt Barker and Balhannah.
