A young boy who is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Lobethal on Monday afternoon has been identified as a member of the family who runs one of the Adelaide Hills’ most popular bakeries.
The boy, whose age is unknown, is a member of the Trinkle family who run the Lobethal Bakery.
Emergency services were called to a Valley View Lane property at Lobethal about 4.30pm Monday after reports of an incident.
It is understood one of the boy’s family members was driving the car when he was hit.
It is also understood the boy remained in hospital on life support on Tuesday morning.
Family at the property declined to comment on the incident.
Staff at the Lobethal Bakery also declined to comment.
The bakery, which opened its doors in 1975, has long been a local favourite.
The bakery has shopfronts in Lobethal, Woodside, Stirling, Mt Barker and Balhannah.
A Valley View Lane neighbour told The Advertiser the street was a “close-knit neighbourhood”.
“They’re beautiful people,” he said.
“We’re all feeling for them and we hope he pulls through.”
SA Health could not provide an update on the boy, who was reportedly in a critical condition on Monday night.
According to its website, the bakery is now run by brothers Albert, Peter and Paul Trinkle.
