More rain, thunderstorm tipped to hit Adelaide on Friday
The wet and wild weather soaking South Australians this week is not over yet. Here’s what’s in store for the rest of the VAILO Adelaide 500 and Robbie Williams concert.

More steady rainfall with a the chance of a thunderstorm is threatening the VAILO Adelaide 500 on Friday, but it’s expected to clear by the race finale and Robbie Williams concert on Sunday.
Adelaide recorded one of its wettest days in a while on Thursday when steady rain fell for much of the day and into the night.
The Bureau of Meteorology West Tce rain gauge recorded 22.8mm of rain in the 24 hours until 9am on Friday. It was the wettest 24 hours in the city since 41.6mm fell on June 23.
Higher falls were recorded in the Mount Lofty Ranges, with Mount Torrens recording 31mm of rain and both Mount Pleasant and Callington 27mm.
Naracoorte, in the state’s South-East, had its wettest November day over the past 26 years, with 46.4mm falling.
Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Simon Timcke said intermittent light rain overnight on Thursday was forecast to develop into showers on Friday, with the chance of a thunderstorm over Adelaide and a predicted top of 22C.

But the rain will ease over the weekend, according to Mr Timcke.
“We’ll still see showers around on Saturday … but later in the day, the winds will turn around southerly and we’ll see them ease,” he said.
He said there might be some light showers around the Adelaide Hills on Sunday but very little around the city.
“There’s still the chance of the odd light shower but it’ll be mostly dry so fingers crossed the weather will be better for the final day of the race and the Robbie Williams concert on Sunday night.”
A maximum temperature of 20C is expected in Adelaide on Saturday, including up to 8mm of rainfall, and a cloudy 21C on Sunday.
Adelaide can expect rain and thunderstorms leading into the VAILO Adelaide 500 this weekend.
Senior metrologist for the Bureau of Meteorology Hannah Marsh said Thursday would start off sunny with a maximum of 27C, before cloud increased, bringing the chance of up to 6mm of rain in Adelaide. And the damp weather will continue with the rest of the week set for rain, thunderstorms and lots of cloud cover.
“We’ve got a trough of low pressure that’s out over the eastern states, and this is going to intensify and then start pushing back into South Australia later in the week,” Ms Marsh said.
“Starting off on Thursday we will see a sunny morning and then the cloud will start to increase during the afternoon.
“Then, there’s a chance of seeing a shower or even a rumble of thunder as we head into the evening period or even later evening.”
