A $32 million redevelopment of Glenunga International High School will include a new three-storey building focused on science and technology.

The building will also have serviced learning areas, breakout areas and spaces for staff to prepare lessons.

Unveiling concept designs at the school today, Education Minister John Gardner said the Government’s capital works program was growing momentum.

“With shovels in the ground, our $1.3 billion education capital works program is supporting South Australian jobs and boosting SA’s economy as we recover from the economic impacts of the coronavirus,” he said.

“I am sure that local families will be excited to see these concept designs and are eagerly looking forward to these upgrades coming to life.

“The concept designs released today at Glenunga reflect the local needs of this school and provides a glimpse of the modern, world-class educational facilities we are building across the state.

“Our record investment is lifting the capacity of schools in areas with rapidly growing public school enrolments, is assisting the transition of Year 7 into high school and delivering a generational upgrade of schools across SA.”

Glenunga, which now has just over 1800 students, will grow to 2200 with the redevelopment assisting in accommodating Year 7 at the school from 2022.

Last week, the Government revealed plans for consolidating Norwood Morialta High School onto the Parade campus.

Plans also have been published recently for Adelaide, Brighton, Urrbrae and John Pirie among others.

The government also has released zoning and other details for the new schools at Aldinga, Angle Vale and Whyalla.
