Driver charged over horror Aldinga crash that killed beloved rider
A 26-year-old Clovelly Park woman has been charged over the fatal crash at Aldinga that killed 21-year-old motorcyclist Daneel Gailey on May 28.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Main South Road and Malpas Road after a crash involving a Honda CRV and Kawasaki motorcycle at about 4.30pm.
The rider, Mr Gailey, was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital but later died.
The woman, who was driving the Honda, was uninjured in the crash.
Major Crash Investigators arrested the woman and charged her with causing death by careless driving.
She was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on August 28.
Mr Gailey – affectionately known as Danny – was remembered as a ‘beautiful young man’ in tributes posted online.
Family friend Ally Modra said Danny had a big future ahead of him – were it not for his tragic death.
“Danny was a vibrant, caring and loving young man with a bright future ahead of him, loved by all who knew him,” she wrote on a GoFundMe page.
Ms Modra also extended her condolences to Danny’s mum Lena Murav’eva, who had the heart wrenching task of saying farewell to her only child.
“(Danny) was the only child of Lena … it has always been the two of them, through the good times and the bad,” Ms Modra wrote.
“(Lena) loved and supported him from the day he was born and was by his bedside holding his hand when he passed.
“No parent should ever have to go through this pain … his untimely death has left a profound void in the hearts of his family and friends.”
Anyone who witnessed the crash, has dashcam footage, or who may have been travelling on Main South Road around the time of the crash and saw the green Kawasaki motorbike travelling south is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
