Welcome to ‘New Recruits’ – a weekly wrap of all the major player moves in local SA footy this pre-season.
Each week leading into season 2023 The Messenger will wrap the big movements across the state, including all country and suburban competitions.
We have seen more big moves recently, with veteran local names and a Crows SANFL gun joining new clubs.

ADELAIDE FOOTY LEAGUE
Brandon Smith (Glenelg to Sacred Heart OC)

Ky Glasson (Alice Springs to Kilburn)
Luke Dewhirst (South Adelaide to Sacred Heart OC)
Sam Laube (Goodwood to Sacred Heart OC)
Tim Kidney (Pooraka to Morphettville Park)
Zac Sanderson (Goodwood to Sacred Heart OC)
Sacred Heart Old Collegians and Kilburn have been busy throughout the past week, each club signing multiple players for the 2023 season.
Zac Sanderson and Sam Laube have both joined SHOC after solid seasons for Goodwood in division one.
Sanderson previously won a premiership with the Saints in 2020, playing as a reliable full back, while Laube is coming off of an exceptional year for Goodwood in division one, booting 22 goals and tallying seven best player mentions in his 18 appearances.
Brayden Lauder highlights the signings for Kilburn, the son of club legend Sam Lauder arriving from Gaza after 100 games for the Eagles.
In other moves around the competition, Pooraka gun Tim Kidney has joined Morphettville Park in division four, while St Peter’s OC have secured the services of Darwin Buffaloes player John Vrodos.

Kade Harkins (PHOS Camden to Berri)
RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Issaiah Hobbs (Strathalbyn to Mannum)
Hobbs has signed with Mannum after a successful tenure at Strathalbyn in the Great Southern Football League.
A skilled and versatile key position player, Hobbs was a consistent asset for the Roosters and was also captain at the club, winning multiple best and fairest awards.
SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Hayden Kernahan (Brighton to Cove)
Young gun defender Hayden Kernahan has returned to home club Cove after spending a season with the Brighton Bombers in division one of the Adelaide Footy League.
Kernahan, who remains listed with Adelaide in the SANFL, was a consistent performer for the Bombers and should provide a significant boost for Cove when available.
WESTERN EYRE FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Brody Skinner (Ceduna Blues to Thevenard)
Kade Maddigan (Thevenard)
WHYALLA FOOTBALL LEAGUE
William Milera (West Augusta to North Whyalla)
Vincent Graham (Ceduna Blues to North Whyalla)
North Whyalla has made two significant signings this week, picking up skilled and versatile assets in Will Milera and Vincent Graham.
Both players will provide pace and consistent ability to the club’s lineup, while Milera also brings experience having performed consistently and won a premiership with West Augusta in the Spencer Gulf Football League.
