North Adelaide, along with premier Peter Malinauskas, has unveiled its new facilities at Prospect Oval ahead of SANFL season 2023 after the completion of a $1.5m club redevelopment.

The new facilities include the implementation of female change rooms, a relocated and new gymnasium and a new function centre at the club, as well as a new viewing area of Prospect Oval.

The project was supported by a State Government grant ahead of the new season.

Club chair Andrew Souter said the Roosters were thankful for the support.

“Receiving the grant from the State Government provided us with the opportunity to develop much-needed quality facilities for our female players who have been without adequate change rooms at Prospect Oval since we entered the SANFLW competition seven years ago,” Mr Souter said.

“Having a good relationship with the City of Prospect also has provided the club with much-needed ongoing maintenance and we look forward to continuing this for many years to come.

“The project has been in the pipeline for several years, with the board working closely with all levels of government and the finished product is a just reward for the hard work put in.”

North Adelaide has been a leader in women’s football for multiple years now and won its second SANFL Women’s League premiership in 2022, defeating Sturt by 18 points.

Coach Krissie Steen said the new space would provide a boost to her playing group with the SANFLW season just weeks away.

“It’s pretty important that we’ve now got our own space instead of a shared one and I think it’s probably a benefit to the boys to,” Steen said.

“The club has been super supportive of us and this now adds to the recognition that the women’s team is an important part of the Roosters.

“We’re now able to put all our stuff here and we’ve got our own mottos on the wall now too – having this space can really lift the team.”

Steen said the new gym facility would also be of major benefit to the players.

“The gym we’ve got now is absolutely elite.

“Strength and conditioning is obviously a massive part of our program so having these facilities will really allow us to continue to push an elite program and elite standards.”

The new function area will be known as the ‘Pavilion at Prospect’ and will be open to the public from 7am on weekdays for coffee and light snacks, bar and bistro facilities on selected training nights and will also be available for functions and events.

The club’s construction partner, G5 Special Projects, was engaged to undertake the project.
