EDITOR'S NOTE: Charges against Samantha Holota have been dropped.
A mother and father who were allegedly running a southern suburbs meth lab as a side hustle have both been released on bail.
Samantha Holota, 37, and Timothy Scott Cullen, 50, are alleged to have been cooking meth after they were found at an abandoned car workshop on South Road at Clovelly Park.
During Ms Holota’s bail application last month, the court heard police found the duo – who are the parents of an 11-year-old – on the property when they arrived on September 19.
“Police found four zip lock bags which contained 12 grams of methamphetamine in the underwear of the co-accused,” a police prosecutor said.
It is further alleged officers found a lab full of chemicals and equipment used for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Ms Holota’s defence counsel argued that all of the alleged illegal equipment belonged to her partner.
“She had only been at the address for around 10 minutes to ask the co-accused a question before police arrived,” the lawyer said.
Ms Holota was granted bail to a Mitchell Park address.
Mr Cullen and Ms Holota are charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking, manufacturing a controlled drug for sale and possessing firearms.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday, Andrew Moffa, for Mr Cullen, told the court he could continue working as a mechanic if released on bail.
“There is a drug issue (methamphetamine) problem … that’s a matter that Mr Cullen needs to address,” he said.
Magistrate Alfio Grasso granted Mr Cullen home detention bail to a Bellevue Heights address, with a condition not to use alcohol and drugs.
“If you fail (a drug test) you’re going to get arrested and spend time in custody, if you’ll be released at all,” he said.
The duo will return to court next year.
