Point Turton Caravan Park has been crowned South Australia’s best holiday park for two years in a row

A love for travel and caravans led South Australian couple Malcolm and Dani Wheadon to run their own caravan park on the sunny Yorke Peninsula.
The couple started managing Point Turton Caravan Park six-and-a-half years ago after starting in the industry six years prior – and they’re not looking back.
“The decision to venture into caravan park management was an easy one for us,” Ms Wheadon said.
“More than anything, we were looking for change. Caravan park management was the right fit for our family in terms of being able to balance work and lifestyle.”
Ms Wheadon said, despite caravan management being challenging at times, not a day goes by that they don’t love what they’re doing.
“As caravanners ourselves we enjoy meeting new people, talking travel and tourism and we genuinely enjoy all aspects of the industry,” she said.
“This park is like our own little community.
“During our time at the Point Turton Caravan Park we have been lucky to have a great support network through the Yorke Peninsula Council, our fantastic team of staff and our park guests.”
The couple, whose caravan park was also crowned the best of 2023, said winning two years in a row is a “real testament to the incredible team that we work with”.
“For us, the voters’ choice demonstrates quality and excellence within the industry and highlights that parks don’t necessarily need all the bells and whistles for travellers to appreciate a great holiday destination,” Ms Wheadon said.
“We are extremely grateful to have so many passionate visitors and would like to thank all who took the time to vote.”
