A former cafe owner has admitted her guilt to serial drug dealing, after a traumatic event caused her life to spiral and she became hooked on meth.

Sonia Kay Doeuk, 43, pleaded guilty in the District Court on Friday to six counts of drug trafficking and one count of possessing a controlled drug.

Doeuk was due to face trial next week but a resolution was reached, which included two counts of commercial drug trafficking being withdrawn.

During one of Doeuk’s bail applications, the court heard police attended and searched her Lightsview home in October 2019.

They found MDMA, marijuana, methamphetamine, various mobile phones and tick lists as well as other drug-dealing indicators.

The court heard police attended Doeuk’s property a couple of days later.

“They located the accused lying face down, foaming at the mouth – they suspected she was suffering from a drug overdose,” a police prosecutor said.

“In that search police located further tick lists relating to debts of sale, a further amount of methamphetamine and further mobile phone devices,” the police prosecutor said.

Police also found a large amount of GHB, also known as fantasy.

Doeuk was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

“She told police she had taken some medication for hayfever and that’s why she felt dizzy,” the police prosecutor said.

The court heard police located methamphetamine thrown into a bin, more GHB, empty resealable bags, tick lists and $770 cash.

Adam Fennell, who previously worked as an F45 trainer at the Glenelg studio and believed to be Doeuk’s partner, was also present during the search.

A commercial drug trafficking charge was dropped against Mr Fennell in July 2021.

Doeuk was sentenced to $800, 18-month good behaviour bond in November 2021 after being caught with prescription drugs and other people’s identification and bank cards.

During sentencing submissions, the court heard Doeuk’s life spiralled when her partner died by suicide in 2017.

The mother-of-four and former cafe owner was introduced to drugs and she began taking methamphetamine.

In the District Court on Friday, Doeuk’s charges were adjourned until May for sentencing submissions.
