Drug trafficking charges dropped against Adam Fennell but remain for co-accused Sonia Doeuk

A bikie and ex-F45 trainer has “one less thing to worry about” after some of his charges were dropped as police go after his partner who has just given birth.

Australia's Growing Drug Crisis

A bikie has had some of his drug charges dropped, while his co-accused is facing allegations of large amounts of meth, fantasy and tick lists being found at her place.

Adam Robert Fennell, 47, has “one less thing to worry about” after a set of his drug trafficking charges were only continued against Sonia Kay Doeuk, 42.

A prosecutor told the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday that a charge determination had been made and the charges would be withdrawn against Fennell.

“We are proceeding against Ms Sonia Doeuk alone,” the prosecutor said.

Fennell and Doeuk were arrested after police searched Doeuk’s Salisbury Downs house in August.

Police allegedly located 24g methamphetamine, empty resealable bags, tick lists and 1.7kg of GHB, also known as fantasy.

Doeuk, who is believed to be Fennell’s partner and likely gave birth to a child while in custody, is now on home detention bail.

Kate Budzysnki, for Fennell, told the court Fennell had other charges holding him in custody.

“One less thing for you to worry about in any event,” magistrate David McLeod said.

Fennell was charged alongside three other members of the Nomads bikie gang in a significant drug and weapons seizure, where thousands of dollars worth of heroin and meth were taken off the streets.

Fennell – who was an F45 trainer at the Glenelg studio until recently – was refused home detention bail in April after police allegedly found over $100,000 in cash at his house.

The court previously heard prosecution’s evidence includes over 15,000 intercepted telephone recordings and visual recordings from a shed at a Magill address from a covert camera and listening device.

“The investigation shows that there was a large amount of methamphetamine sighted, as well as the three accused in this matter handling packaging and weighing methamphetamine for sale,” a prosecutor previously told the court.

“Large amounts of cash have been sighted being counted by the three co-accused and discussions in relation to quantities of methamphetamine and heroin were captured.”

The Nomads were put under the spotlight during Operation Leo, an investigation that began in December.

Fennell, of Payneham, is charged with commercial drug trafficking and money laundering.

Doeuk, of Mansfield Park, is charged with multiple drug trafficking charges.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday her charges were adjourned until September.
